What is Wellness Coaching?

The first step in making positive change is envisioning what that change will look like. In an empowering and collaborative process, wellness coaches help clients create their personalized vision for heath and wellness and to define the steps leading to their goals in the areas of nutrition, fitness, stress management, self-care, and health risk reduction.

According to the Institute of Medicine (2006), two thirds of health-care costs are driven by our daily choices, particularly those related to physical inactivity and unhealthy eating. It has been estimated that more than 60% of visits to primary care providers are due to stress and stress related conditions. There are no quick fixes, and it is essential that each one of us becomes aware and in charge of how our daily choices are impacting our health and well being.

What will Wellness Coaching do for me?

Wellness Coaching will help you achieve whatever health and wellness outcomes you imagine as possible.

As your Wellness Coach I will assist you in connecting the dots between where you are today and where you want to be in the areas of nutrition, fitness, stress management, self-care, and health risk reduction.

Acknowledging you as the expert on your own life, I will help you design and implement realistic, incremental steps leading to your desired goals.

How does having a Wellness Coach work?

Your wellness coaching process includes the completion of a well-being assessment, an extended evaluation and planning session and the scheduling of regular visits according to need. Coaching sessions may take place in person or by phone.

Throughout the entire process I will:

  • Accept and meet you where you are today
  • Help you clarify and connect to your own reasons and motivations for improving your health and wellbeing
  • Help you recognize and mobilize your strengths and resources
  • Help you identify potential obstacles and brainstorm solutions
  • Help you address mental and physical health together
  • Inspire and challenge you to go beyond what you would do alone

After 3 months of wellness coaching, clients typically reach more than 70% of their goals. Success breeds success and that provides the energy and confidence to pursue further goals either with or without the support of a coach.
